About me

My name is Sterling Robert Brown…husband to a beautiful wife…father to four amazing children…pastor of an awesome church in Atlanta…and I will have my blessing in this life or the next!

Seriously. Now that my “Gladiator” rant is over, I may as well tell you a little about me.

I love Jesus. I grew up not going to church and had never been exposed to the God of the Bible until college.  We met and hit it off instantly.  That is, until I realized that if we were going to be “an item” one of us was going to have to give… and it wouldn’t be Christ.  I surrendered my life to follow Him in 1990 and have lived to follow Him and lead others to follow Him ever since! It’s been an amazing ride with plenty of ups and downs.  But all I can say is He is faithful, even when I am not.

I also love my family. I grew up in New Jersey, in a mixed home before it was chic.  I went to school at the University of Richmond, then in 1996 moved to Tallahassee Florida to be a part of Every Nation Tallahassee and work at Florida State University.  That’s where I met Myssi Calkins, an FSU softball All-American and all around babe.  We married in 1998 and we now have four incredible children (Jaden, Mya, Levi & Destiny).

I love the church.  In 2001, we moved to Atlanta to help start a church with Chip & Hope Buhler and several other families. In 2007 Pastor Chip transitioned to focus on Twenty20 Vision. In 2008 we have begun launching a new church in Atlanta and we are excited about what the future holds!

I am passionate about the arts and diversity.  I have recorded several albums, served for many years as a worship leader, now I hope to see a whole new generation get a hold of Christ and live to make Him known through their various creative media.  You can check out my music to have a listen to some of the songs God has given me to share over the years.

And I also really like sports.  Used to play a little ball back in the day (football, baseball, basketball-just about anything ending in the word “ball”)… I almost enjoy referrng to myself as “a former athlete.”  But now I try to stick to watching sports at playoff time.
